SDA3型內燃機車是戚墅堰公司為滿足泰國幹線客、貨運運輸需求而專門研製的內燃機車，采用交-直-交電傳動，軌距1000mm，裝車功率2380kW，軸重20t，最大運行速度100km/h,采用內走廊雙司機室結構，側壁承載式車體，機車裝用CAT C175-16型電噴柴油機、交流牽引係統、微機網絡控製係統、輔機交流電傳動係統、具有全功率自負荷試驗功能的電阻製動係統、WABTEC 26-LA空氣製動係統和三軸滾抱徑向轉向架，具有雙機重聯功能。
The SDA3 locomotive is specially developed and manufactured by CRRC Qishuyan Co., Ltd. for the transportation of passenger and freight using in Thailand mainline.The locomotive adopts AC-DC-AC electric transmission , and its gauge is 1000mm. The maximum service power is 2380kW. The axle load of the locomotive is 20t and the maximum speed is 100km/h. The locomotive adopts inner corridor and side wall bearing structure with double driver cabs. The locomotive is equipped with CAT C175-16 type diesel engine, AC traction system, computer logic control technique, WABTEC 26-LA air brake system. The bogie is three-axle radial bogie with rolling bearing axle-huge suspension. The locomotive has the function of double heading.
