SDA2型內燃機車是我公司為滿足澳大利亞窄軌鐵路幹線貨運需求而專門研製的。該機車是交-直-交電傳動內燃機車，軌距1067mm，裝用MTU 20V4000R43型柴油機、ABB牽引係統、KNORR製動係統，柴油機裝車功率2700KW（3620馬力),機車標稱功率2260KW，軸重20噸；機車最大牽引力490KN，持續牽引力433KN，機車通過最小曲線半徑為80m。該機車采用交流傳動係統和微機網絡控製係統，具有多機分布式重聯功能。
SDA2 diesel locomotive is specifically developed and manufactured by CRRC Qishuyan Co., Ltd. for the transportation on Australia narrow gauge mainline. The locomotive has AC transmission system, which gauge is 1067mm. It is equipped with MTU 20V4000R43 diesel engine with service power 2700KW (3620 hp), ABB traction system and KNORR brake system; the nominal locomotive power is 2260KW with axle load 20 tons; the locomotive maximum starting tractive effort is 490kN, continuous tractive effort is 433kN, the minimum radius of curve negotiation is 80m. The locomotive adopts AC transmission system and microcomputer control system with multiple unit function.
